Our Heritage

About Entebbe Central

Explore the journey, core values, and the divine mission that inspire our congregation to be a beacon of hope and service in the heart of Entebbe.

Our Story

The origins of Entebbe Central Seventh-Day Adventist Church date back to the vision and dedication of a few faithful pioneers. Among these were our own Jaaja Kilyowa Abner, his wife Jaaja Gladys Kilyowa, and the late Elder Ssetimba, who were the first Adventists in Entebbe.

In the early days, this small group of believers had to commute all the way to Makerere for prayers. As the Adventist population in Entebbe began to grow, this long journey became impractical. Around 1968, they started gathering to worship in one of their homes.

As the numbers continued to multiply, fueled by a commitment to Bible-based teaching and meaningful worship, the home gatherings transitioned into the first dedicated church building (as seen in the image).

For decades, this first church building faithfully served the congregation, echoing with the prayers and hymns of generations. In recent years, however, the Lord blessed us with such remarkable growth that we simply outgrew those original walls. This inspired the vision to construct a larger sanctuary to welcome our expanding church family—a beautiful new building that is now complete and serves as our current place of worship and as the HeadQuarters for Entebbe SDA District (as seen in the image).

Today, we continue the legacy of those early pioneers, serving our community by sharing the message of hope, faith, and the soon return of Jesus Christ.
